THE SPIRIT OF VOICE

THE SPIRIT OF VOICE

The Ontario Vocal Festival promotes excellence in choral music through annual educational festivals which give participants performance opportunities and create networking and skill development forums.

A brief history

Starting as a one-day festival in 1984, the Ontario Vocal Festival has grown to become one of the largest choral festivals in North America.

Now, over 40 years later, the festival is still providing students, educators and community directors with a first rate choral experience which emphasizes non-competition and promotes an atmosphere of music sharing.

Featuring the best clinicians from Canada and the United States, the festival's board of directors is committed to maintaining this high standard.

OVF is an organization of dedicated volunteer music educators who are committed to helping Ontario music teachers and community choir directors. OVF provides several days of choral festivals for concert and chamber choirs of all ages, as well as jazz choirs.

The Ontario Vocal Festival strives to provide an educational experience for singers and directors alike. We encourage participating ensembles to select repertoire that represents the diverse faces of the choral community across Ontario. We urge directors to look deeper into the repertoire they choose to ensure that it comes from culturally responsible practices. This repertoire list is not meant to be a syllabus, just a resource to help in your search for quality repertoire.

The Ontario Vocal Festival is also a registered Canadian Charity.
